Clarets boss delighted with first Turf Moor Premier League victory
Manager Vincent Kompany described his emotions as ‘feeling so good’ and hopes it’s a starting point for his side after the Clarets destroyed Sheffield United at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
Jay Rodriguez’s 15 second opener proved to be a sign of things to come for Burnley as the goals followed through Jacob Bruun Larsen, Zeki Amdouni, Luca Koleosho and Josh Brownhill.
Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Kompany spoke of his pride for his team and hopes this afternoon’s result can give the Clarets a lift heading into a double gameweek.
The Burnley boss said: “It feels so good. We were desperate to do it today as well and you could see it from the start, how much the lads wanted it.
“The lads were raring to go today, I think you could have blown the whistle 45 minutes earlier and we would have been ready for it. I have seen a lot of frustration and anger today taken out on the performance.
“We played well against West Ham, we played well against Crystal Palace and we always believed it was coming and today it did.
“I just hope it’s a starting point for us now. I have been sat here a few times after a game and I haven’t been able to fault the performances and today they were outstanding.”

On the goals, early opener and clean-sheet, Kompany added: “Lots of goal scorers on the team sheet today which is always a positive for us.
“Jay scoring early on was great. These things happen sometimes in football and it’s actually quite good we lost the coin toss which meant we kicked off and got it going.”
“Also, I’m really happy for the clean sheet we got today. The Premier League is very unforgiving and it’s very tough to keep one (cleansheet).
“But doing this is good for the team, good for the goalkeeper, good for the defence and I’m pleased for them all on that aspect.”

The Clarets’ attention now turns to Tuesday night’s trip to Wolves and Kompany says full focus is on the visit to Molineux and his team will begin their preparation.
“We go again on Tuesday. It’s the same recipe and I see the boys making progress and they work as hard as the top teams in this league, now we have a trip to Wolverhampton.
“There’s a real fight in this team and they will be ready for it. It’s a short turnaround but we will be in and recovering then getting ready for Tuesday.”
