Andy Farrell’s team finish season on Tuesday
Burnley U21s’ 2023/24 Professional Development League season concludes with a trip to South Yorkshire to face Barnsley on Tuesday afternoon.
A 13th league win of the campaign would see the young Clarets finish 5th in the 11-team table.
Andy Farrell’s team come into this one on the back of Friday’s 3-2 defeat to Coventry City at Victory Park.
It was a much-changed line-up in Chorley and striker Mikey O’Neill opened the scoring in the 17th minute, but Burnley were pegged back from the penalty spot before halftime.
Lewis Richardson then restored the lead with a penalty of our own before Coventry winger Aidan Dausch struck twice in a minute to ensure all three points headed back to the Midlands.
The U21s are currently 6th in the North section of the table with 42 points from their 29 matches.

Barnsley are better off in 4th, with 51 points largely thanks to their 16 victories to date.
The Tykes have made a surge up the table in recent weeks and are unbeaten in their last six outings, winning five of those.
They were 2-0 winners down at Queens Park Rangers last week.
April saw these two teams meet in the reverse fixture, and Barnsley were 4-0 winners at the County Ground in Leyland.
The Tykes struck twice either side of halftime to record an impressive victory and they’ll be hoping to claim another three points on home soil.
Supporters are welcome to attend this fixture at Oakwell Stadium (S71 1ET), with entrance free via the West Stand on Grove Street.
Turnstiles will open at 12pm, with complimentary parking outside of the South Stand where the Main Reception is located.
